Direct Payments
If the person you are caring for is over 18 and assessed as needing personal care services they can apply for the cash in order to purchase their own services.
The Employment Relations Act of 1999 gives Carers the legal right to have a reasonable amount of time off work to facilitate caring.
If you are entitled to Carers Allowance your National
Insurance contributions will be automatically credited to you.

Disability Living Allowance
Paid to help with the cost of personal care and mobility for people under 65 years of age.
Exemption on payment of Vehicle Licence fee
Anyone in receipt of the higher rate of Disability Living Allowance for help in getting around can obtain a DLA 404 from Disability Benefits Unit, Warbreck House, Warbreck Hill, Blackpool FY2 0YE. This certificate is valid for four years (renewable) and gives exemption from paying for a vehicle excise licence.
