Norwich Health Trainer Service
Health trainers meet with clients in their local areas, such as community centres and work with people who are already motivated to make healthy lifestyle changes. Health trainers provide non-judgemental motivation, encouragement and bespoke support to clients’ using psychological-based techniques to help people change unhealthy behaviours to behaviours that are known to enhance health and wellbeing, such as;
- Reducing alcohol / drug use
- Reducing or stopping smoking
- Improving sexual health
- Becoming more active
- Making healthier food choices
We will see clients for 6 one-to-one sessions over a 6 month period (or shorter depending on the clients needs) and can provide clients with;
- The time to listen
- Support and encouragement
- The chance for clients’ to choose their own achievable health goals
- Regular meetings to review client progress
- Motivation when change seems difficult
- Information and connection to local groups and activities and may also accompany clients to the first session
- Free condoms through the C-Card scheme
- Free Chlamydia testing kits (for 16-24 years olds)
- Signposting to various local and national services
- Level 2 Significant smoking cessation advice and prescription letters to doctors for NRT and Champix products
