Hello again to you all. Please find below a list of all of the new opportunities that have come in during October. As always, if you would like some more information regarding any of these opportunities (or anything else to do with volunteering), please get in touch. Urgently needed !
Harford Community Centre is at risk of closing, they are in real need of a volunteer to help as a Bookings Secretary, and the volunteer would be involved in things such as taking messages visiting the office on regular basis, dealing with post and taking minutes of Committee meetings.
Location: Norwich
Indigo Foundation (Norfolk) is looking for a Reception and Retail Volunteer with excellent interpersonal skills and who is a team player available 5 days per week 11.00 am to 4.30 pm (20 hours). In return Indigo will train the volunteer in Dyslexia which will be an accredited course. Ideally the volunteer will have excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

Remap is still looking for a volunteer Secretary for the Central Norfolk Panel. The role entails volunteering from home (internet access needed at home) and therefore is very flexible. The secretary is an essential point of contact for the Panel. Training will be given where necessary.

Can you give time regularly to support a local charity or an individual in the community?
Headway Norfolk and Waveney is looking for Expressive Art and Poetry Volunteers to support the expressive art and poetry group at Headway; this would suit someone with some experience with art and poetry who can enable the clients to get involved. They also require Memory and Communication Group Volunteers who have an interest in cognitive issues and who want to help clients communicate and express themselves in groups. Interpersonal skills would be ideal This would be an ideal role for psychology graduates or students. Lastly Headway is looking for a Woodwork Support Volunteer to help clients with woodworking tasks, give support to the woodwork tutor, it would suit a volunteer with woodworking experience or handyman ability!

Would you like to gain project management experience volunteering alongside Norwich Puppet Theatre’s Project Manager? They would like a Project Volunteer to help with some of the following : create evaluation materials for workshops and education events, putting together workshop numbers/statistics, carrying out surveys and questionnaires with theatre users , processing the evaluation material and putting it into accessible formats. What they can offer: A supportive, friendly and relaxed environment to work in, working in collaboration with staff and other volunteers at the venue, all tasks will be supported with training.

Hospital Arts Project is looking for an enthusiastic individual who is highly motivated, able to work on their own initiative. The Hospital Arts Researcher role is to research information for a specific fundraising campaign, ideally the volunteer will have experience in and be confident using the computer.

Musical Keys is looking for Music Group Helpers for their groups at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital and in Diss. The role of the music group helper is to help children and their families to fully participate in musical activities, prepare the room with instruments and other materials such as ; parachutes, puppets. lycra, obstacle course equipment and to clear away after group. No special qualifications required, just a good sense of humour.

Guide Dogs is looking for a Volunteer Fundraiser / Branch Member to join their friendly local teams to attend local fundraising events such as street collections, local dog shows, flag days, and local community events. Volunteers may be collecting funds, selling merchandise or generally raising awareness of Guide Dogs, while raising vital funds to help them enable blind and partially sighted people to enjoy the same freedom of movement as everyone else. The role is completely flexible and can be done as and when the volunteer has time.

FoodCycle combines volunteers, surplus food and a free kitchen space to create nutritious meals and positive social change in the community! As a Food Cycler volunteer you can get involved by fulfilling a specific role assigned to you by a project leader, some of these tasks include collecting, cooking, delivering and serving the food, help with the organising of local fundraisers, help with nutrition workshops in the local community and recruiting more volunteers for FoodCycle

Hardingham & District Pre-School is looking for some enthusiastic Committee members with good initiative and who can work well within a team to help the committee provide a good foundation for Pre-School aged children and their learning and development. Volunteers do not need to have children at the Pre-School.

Long Stratton Pre-School would also like new Committee Members from a Chair, Finance , Secretary, Personnel
Admin/Publicity/Communication and Admissions! There are lots of ways to get involved and volunteers will be given the opportunity to attend PLA/ Momentum course.

Wherry Housing Association is looking for lots of Room to Move Customer Support volunteers across the county to support their residents who have chosen to take part in the Room to Move scheme. The scheme's aim is to give residents, who live in a home that is larger than they need, help to move in to a smaller property. The advantage of this is twofold in allowing vulnerable, often elderly, residents to move into a more manageable property and freeing up a family home for the many families in need. Volunteers will receive in-house training, regular support from the staff and travel and parking expenses paid.

South Harford & Tuckswood Community Association Annual General Meeting - Monday 15th November 2010 7.30pm Harford Community Centre, are you looking for ways to help your community, an opportunity to learn new skills and meet new people?
